You are invited to join us for the third annual LYPTSA Family Reading Night! We will also be doing a food drive for the Kent Food Bank- please bring non-perishable food to donate!
When: Thursday, March 1st at 6:00 pm
Where: In the Gym at Lake Youngs
Who: All Lake Youngs Students and Their Families
(Please Stay With Your Student!)
What: Our evening will begin with performances by Mrs. Palsson’s, Mrs. Henry’s, and Mrs. Kerley’s classes. Families will then visit three different stations:
- Teacher Reader: Ms. Chinchar
- Special Guest Lois Brant, author of Maddi’s Fridge
- Free snack of Smith Brothers Farms Milk and Cookies, Grizzly Reader Selfie Booth and fun art project- Thanks to Smith Brothers Farms for donating milk.
Bonus: We will be collecting non-perishable food (canned or boxed food- no frozen and no refrigerated items please) to donate to the Kent Food Bank. Every student who brings at least one item to donate will be entered to win a fabulous door prize!
Volunteers are needed to help with this event- please watch for a sign up form in your child’s Grizzly Flier.
The Lake Youngs Talent Show is coming up this Friday! Please see the details below- hope to see you there!
Mandatory Audition: Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 4:00-5:30 PM.
Talent Show Date: Friday, February 9, 2018 at 7:00 PM.
(Performing students are asked to be ready at 6:45 PM).
Details: Students can perform individually or in a group with friends/family. Students can be a part of two acts. Talent show ideas include singing, acting out a scene, reading poetry, dancing, juggling, yo-yo tricks, magic tricks, stand-up comedy, and playing an instrument. Please limit your act to no more than 3 minutes. Student will be responsible for providing their music on a CD (no other format please) on February 8, 2018 at the Audition. We will need to hold onto the CD till after the Talent Show performance on February 9, 2018.
Please be aware that Drama Club rehearsal has been cancelled tomorrow ( 1/31/18) and will resume Wednesday 2/7/2018 as normal. All students need to be collected or use their normal mode of transport from school at the appropriate time of 1.55pm – due to early release on Wednesdays.
The PTSA General Membership and Board meetings scheduled for Wednesday, January 31st will be postponed until February. Please check back for updated information on meeting times and dates.
The school needs a volunteer for the Science on Wheels exhibits on Friday, January 26th from 12 – 3:30. Please call the office if you can help, even for only part of the afternoon. Thank you! 253-373-7646
